Jonsered 601/621 compatability

Post by bama » May 22nd, '07, 21:49

Do these saws share the same clutch and drum? They don't look the same on the outside, but maybe some parts are common?

Some parts do look kind of the same like ignition, oiler, cylinder, carb.
I am not sure if the crank, drum and clutch fits both But it looks to fit...
It looks that the stuff that is the same are the same on 60, 601, 62 and 621.

That is what I was thinking, but I don't have a 601 IPL, nor do I have a 601 to check with. I have a clutch and drum laying around, but I hate to sell it and have it be the wrong one. Do you happen to have an IPL for the 601, Magnus? I sent George an e-mail, too.

Hi Brad,

Yes, the 601 and 621 share the same clutch assembly. Bearing, shoes, hub, etc., are all the same !

I should have new and used parts here if needed.

Regards,

George

Hi Skogshuggarn, so here you are now, nice to meet you here too! Welcome to the nuthouse! Was almost expecting you, after the 601 thread in Skogsforum. Hopefully Motorsag will know this, leading expert on Jonsereds here.
If you get them, no matter how and why, guard them well!

Hello, Skogshuggarn.

For those not familiar with the word I can say it means Logger in Swedish.
I think we will figure this out. I got a couple dead 621's and a 601 parts saw, I think we can figure this out.
I will have a look and see what I can find here.
It parts interchange, it is no problem, I have all you need and more...

I think this will work.
It is of a runner with broken case. A Raket 60, but still I believe it is the same.
It is not perfect as in like new, but I am sure there is plenty of hrs left on this!

Hej,

The "dead certain" answer to your question is NO. The 621 cylinder will NOT fit onto a 601 case. The mounting bolt spacing for the cylinder is very different.

There are also many other small differences, but, they don't matter as the cylinder just will not mount to the 601 case.

I would suggest you contact Magnus and work something out for the correct cylinder.

Hälsningar,

Motorsag
